Master RUMA brings divine bliss and compassion to the season of Children's Festival

KIEN GIANG, Vietnam - August 25th 2013

In preparation for the new School-year 2013-2014 and the celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival, Master Ruma endowed in-cash and in-kind donations of more than 500 million VND (appropriately US$25,000), the greatest local charitable giving of the year, to the underprivileged students as well as 400 disadvantaged households living in Binh Son and Binh Giang Commune, the remote areas of Hon Dat District, Kien Giang Province, Vietnam.

Two donation ceremonies were held, the first at 7:00 a.m. at Binh Giang Secondary School and the second at 13:00 Binh Son 1 Elementary School. Around 700 local residents, including the student and household recipients, attended each ceremony.

Master Ruma’s disciples were delegated to represent him and donate 100 bicycles, 5,000 notebooks, 18,000 pounds of rice, 800 boxes of instant noodles and 1000 pieces of mooncakes during the 2 ceremonies. Moreover, cash-incentive awards were distributed to 21 outstanding teacher and student recipients who have the most impoverished backgrounds.

Binh Son and Binh Giang Communesare located in such a remote area, where many ethnic Khmer people are living. The poverty rate of these wards is nearly 30% with severe disadvantages in areas like transportation, not to mention the popular poorly-handmade monkey bridges, which may be considered one of the world’s scariest bridges. It normally takes 6 to 15 miles per day for the children living there to continue their education.

In the video clip along with the letter written for the local students, Master Ruma states that He can sympathize with the difficulties they are facing. He always remember his childhood back in Vietnam, He even didn’t have an opportunity to officially go to school, not to mention a bicycle to ride; but he was very fond of learning. “Every day, I carefully listened to the teacher’s lesson while standing stealthily outside the classroom; after that, I came to the beach to practice writing and reading since I didn’t have a notebook.”

The delegation that was appointed by th
e Master had a visit to some of the most underprivileged and wretched children’s families. Being nourished by g
randparents after the parents’ divorce, living in a leaky-roof shack, provisionally living in a shanty town under T6 Bridge, and fighting against malignant brain tumor are some of the keen students’ heartrending and tragic circumstances that we had time to reconnoiter.

As a student of class 7/1, Binh Giang Secondary School, Kien Thi Hieu Vo expressed: “I have to ask my friends to give me a bike ride to school every day; otherwise I have to walk about 4 miles to school. Now with a brand new bike, the journey to school will be much shorter for me.”

Th-Lung was delighted and proud to represent her schoolmates, especially many Khmer students. “On behalf of my friends, I’d like to express our sincerest and deepest gratitude sincere towards the local authorities, especially the Master. We promise to try our hardest to study in order to live up to Master’s expectations.”

“As our District still has a host of deprived Wards with populous ethnic groups, we’re really seeking generous patronage and philanthropy”, says Kinh Thanh Nguyen, Vice President of the Association of Education Promotion, Hon Dat District.

At the end of every School-year in these two Wards, the Master Ruma Encouragement Scholarship of Compassion will be awarded to the top 20 students honored for academic achievements and the top 5 high school graduates achieving the highest scores in the Admission Tests to Colleges and Universities. Early this year, Master Ruma donated 33,000+ pounds of rice, 10,000+ student notebooks together with 115 disinfecting pump-installed water wells on the occasion of “World Water Day” on 22nd March, declared by the United Nations General Assembly.

Master RUMA has dedicated himself to giving charity donations to the communities in Southeast Asian countries that need help the most, while advocating the practices of meditation and vegetarianism, as well as the noble qualities of inner peace, love and compassion. He usually receives sermon requests from people longing for great wisdom, awakening and liberation, while delightedly sharing his Knowledge of Truth with all coming to him regardless of social positions, educational backgrounds, beliefs and religions.
